Ian Sellick's Biography

A ‘trouble shooter’ who has turned around under-performing businesses and teams as well as taken ’good’ performing teams and individuals to even higher levels of performance

Ian is a specialist in individual leadership and team development training and coaching. He is an executive coach, an emotional intelligence assessor and coach, and leadership trainer with over 25 years’ experience leading people and organisations in the pursuit of high performance and excellence. His background includes working within a number of large organisations at senior leadership level, working with chief executives, divisional managers, and board-level members of medium-sized to multi-billion pound publicly trading organisations in the UK, Europe, and the USA.

In his role as an executive coach and leadership trainer, Ian works with senior executives where change presents challenge, whether that is on a personal or organisational performance level. He also works with the on-boarding of new leaders, newly promoted individuals and those identified for ‘fast track’ promotion, drawing on his practical business background as an executive dealing with complex challenges and relationships. Ian blends a high degree of insight, intuition, and challenge into his coaching style.

Ian has extensive corporate leadership experience in services management, solutions sales, and marketing. In addition he has managed whole business segments within the high technology sectors working for Sony, Schlumberger, Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq, and Hewlett Packard. Ian has led large teams of people and businesses of up to £500m and has worked across a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, defence, finance, telecoms and retail and distribution.

Ian has led a number of significant, strategic change projects such as re-establishing solution selling capability across Europe with a focus on central and Eastern Europe, Spain, Portugal and the Benelux countries. He gained a reputation in the corporate world for his success in turning around poorly performing projects and businesses with revenues measured in the tens and hundreds of millions of pounds through organisational change and people development interventions. This often involved the transfer of staff and assets from one organisation to another and managing the complex changes that accompany such projects.

It is through this work that Ian developed a passion for organisational and people development, learning through experience that genuinely involving and developing people is paramount to successful and profitable businesses.

Ian holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), has attended a number of specialist business courses at the leading global business school, IMD, in Lausanne, Switzerland. These include Leadership, Creativity, Managing Change and Advanced Marketing. He is also a certified Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Trainer, Certified NLP Coach and a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
